Following the Quilt-a-Long

I find it immensely ironic that my interest in quilting has now brought me to creating a blog. I have never been a person to journal, much less blog, so this should be interesting.

A friend found the QAL and sent the link to me. I am very excited to practice practice practice and to get new ideas all year long!

One of my biggest challenges is around picking fabrics that work together. For this reason, I adore jelly rolls, charm packs and layer cakes. However, I also have a fat quarter habit. I'll scoop them up always thinking I'll use them. Well, it's gotten out of hand. So, for this project, I forced myself to use my stash. I did cheat a little in that 7 of the fabrics came as a bundle. Those serve as the base. I added some extra that I hope will work well with them and then I just had to pick the background. Here goes nothing....

  2. I like how all the pinks caused the fabrics to work together along with one surprise green that subtly gets picked up in the other fabrics. I sometimes literally spend over an hour cruising the aisles of the fabric store to find coordinating fabrics, so you are not alone.
